Request to members on May 4th, 2016:
SB 269 (Roth) amends the current law to prevent abuse of “disability” access regulations to reform ADA laws and afford businesses a chance to correct the problem before they can sue. It has been passed by the legislature and is on the Governor’s desk for his signature.
Please call the Governor's office and ask him to sign the bill. You won’t speak with him directly, but you will speak with one of his staff members. Let them know you have associates/fellow ASCCA members that are being targeted in San Diego.
His office phone is: (916) 445-2841
You can also email and/or write a letter to the governor here: https:http://govnews.ca.gov/gov39mail/mail.php

From ASCCA Teamtalk:
This is happening in San Diego, right now to an ASCCA shop.
I was recently served a summons for a Federal Lawsuit naming a tenant of mine and myself as defendants in an ADA lawsuit. The attorney is requesting $25,000 for several alleged ADA violations at my place of business. The attorney states that his client visited our facility April, 2015, and experienced difficulty and frustration. A little research found that the plaintiff is a serial plaintiff and his attorney specializes in these types of lawsuits.
